This is a good historic film.

My dad's family were Polish, they considered themselves polish, spoke polish and everything and what happened in this movie basically happened to them exactly. But now if you go to that town, Naliboki, it's considered part of Belarus. And the things that happened in this film that were told to me by my family, it's like They were there in this movie... Can anyone of elaborate on this? Are there also Polish speaking people in the movie etc? Can anyone give more info?

The scene when the mute gunman reminds the trauma that happened to him in his childhood was the inspiration for the same sequence in "Once upon a time in the west".

gritty and real every scene, every house that was burned and every person that was killed looked so horrific and real it's like you're a fly on the wall watching the whole thing burn and crumble to the ground the church scene was extremely shocking, specially the grandma on the bed at the end who didn't seem to even fathom what was happening every bit as good as the reception it got didn't even seem dated in any way (1985)
